The Department of Mathematics is pleased to announce that Ph.D. student Francesco D’Emilio has been awarded a Simons Dissertation Fellowship in Mathematics from the Simons Foundation.
Established to commemorate foundation co-founder Jim Simons, the fellowship provides research support to exceptional graduate students entering the fourth and fifth years of their mathematics Ph.D. programs. Over two years, the award provides $30,000 in general research support for the student, $2,000 in discretionary funding for the Department of Mathematics, and $6,400 for indirect costs.
D'Emilio is among the second cohort of recipients selected nationally for the program, which supports advanced doctoral research across the mathematical sciences.
