Karl Schaefer Receives the 2026 Dean's Outstanding Teaching Award
Senior Lecturer Karl Schaefer has been recognized with the Dean's Outstanding Teaching Award. Selected in consultation with the Arts & Sciences Promotion and Tenure Committee, this honor recognizes exceptional achievements in teaching and creative activity by teaching-track scholars who have recently been promoted. Schaefer’s dedication to student success and his engaging approach to mathematics education continue to make a lasting mark on our programs.
Alan Chang Honored with the 2026 Excellence in Teaching Award
Assistant Professor Alan Chang is a recipient of the 2026 Excellence in Teaching Award. Formerly known as the Distinguished Teaching Award, this accolade publicly recognizes outstanding faculty members who enrich the lives of undergraduate and graduate students through innovative pedagogy. Nominated directly by members of the Washington University community, Chang was selected for his exceptional classroom excellence and the transformative impact he has on his students’ academic journeys.
