Thesis Defense: "Finiteness of torsion loci and normal functions arising from cycles on Hadamard products"

Speaker: Devin Akman, Washington University in St. Louis

Abstract: We discuss constructions of algebraic cycles in families and the normal functions to which they give rise. Our main results are a finiteness theorem for the torsion locus of certain normal functions, and the existence of cycles on Hadamard products of curves and surfaces fibered over P^1.
